{"id":2714,"date":"2018-07-04T16:32:26","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T08:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.warbel.net\/?p=2714"},"modified":"2018-07-06T16:42:16","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T08:42:16","slug":"connecting-to-the-met-office-weather-observation-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.warbel.net\/index.php\/2018\/07\/04\/connecting-to-the-met-office-weather-observation-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting to the MET Office Weather Observation Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>A short post on contributing to the <a href=\"http:\/\/wow.metoffice.gov.uk\/observations\/details\/20180704jw5gao59kee6t8gmyyb96sc9xo\">MET Weather Observation Website<\/a>.<br \/>\n(What to do with all this data I have)<\/h1>\n<p>A colleague pointed out that the Bureau of Meteorology is contributing to a massive online project hosted by the MET Office that collects weather observation information from the community, <a href=\"http:\/\/bom-wow.metoffice.gov.uk\/\">link here<\/a>, and that I should contribute my data.<\/p>\n<p>My only problem was that my data is collected from a bespoke weather station and lacked a mechanism that could push the data to the MET Office&#8217;s servers. So using their <a href=\"https:\/\/wow.metoffice.gov.uk\/support\/dataformats\">documentation<\/a>, I wrote one in Python and set it up as a cron job on my server.<\/p>\n<p>Here is my weather station website on the <a href=\"http:\/\/wow.metoffice.gov.uk\/observations\/details?site_id=faf64a2d-7f7e-e811-9ccc-0003ff599983\">MET site<\/a>.
